Ridgecrest has long been a neighborhood with a creative spirit. From locally owned businesses and community gathering places to public art, events, artists, and makers, creativity is already part of what makes our neighborhood special.
Now, with the arrival of light rail and new opportunities for commercial development along 5th Avenue NE, Ridgecrest is entering a new chapter. Growth will bring new opportunities, neighbors, and possibilities. As our neighborhood changes, we want to ensure that Ridgecrest's creative spark, individuality, and sense of community remain at the heart of its future.
A group of local residents, artists, businesses, and community organizations has begun exploring how art, creativity, and placemaking can strengthen neighborhood identity, support local businesses and artists, create vibrant gathering spaces, and make Ridgecrest an even more welcoming and distinctive place.
Ideas discussed so far include public art and murals, artistic gateways, sculpture installations, creative events and festivals, and better connections between the many creative destinations that already exist in Ridgecrest. But these are only starting points.
As we explore future projects—and whether Washington State Creative District designation is right for Ridgecrest—we want to hear from the people who know the neighborhood best.
We'd love to hear your ideas at any of these upcoming arts events in Ridgecrest this summer.
